Food Festival Grows Environmental Credentials

Brecon Beacons Food Festival is excited to announce this year’s plans to spruce up its green credentials and lessen its impact on the environment. Working with the Woodland Trust and the Brecon Beacons Sustainable Development Team, the Brecon Beacons Food Festival is to give away a minimum of 500 trees at this year’s event to offset its carbon footprint.

Event Organiser, Andrew Powell said “We attract thousands of visitors each year and wondered how we could lessen our impact on the environment. It’s really exciting to team up with the Woodland Trust by offering free trees at this year’s event for visitors to plant at home.

“Our mission is to promote locally produced food and drink without air miles and mass production credentials, so it makes sense for us to pair this with such a positive, environmentally friendly campaign. I think it’s a really nice gift for hundreds of visitors to go away and a positive message to share with visitors.

“We’ve got a very exciting festival planned this year with lots of new additions and improvements including our park and ride facility. This free service will offer parking at Brecon Cattle Market on Warren Road (postcode LD3 8EX) with regular busses taking visitors to and from Brecon Market Hall in the centre of town. Brecon Cattle Market offers a large space for parking and is easily accessible from the Brecon bypass.

“Exhibitor spaces filled over six months ago which shows the demand for food and drink producers to be part of Brecon Beacons Food Festival. We have some exciting celebrity guests, cooking demonstrations and our popular education corner again this year which promises to be a fantastic day for all who attend.”
